The new cases of coronavirus registered in Italy in the last 24 hours are 219,441, a sharp increase compared to 189,109 yesterday. For the first time since the beginning of the Covid emergency almost two years ago, more than 200,000 cases were recorded in Italy in 24 hours. The dead are 198, down from yesterday when there were 231 victims.

There are 1,138,310 molecular and antigenic swabs for the coronavirus carried out in the last 24 hours in Italy. The positivity rate is 19.28%, up from 17.3% yesterday. There are 1,467 patients in intensive care in Italy, 39 more in 24 hours in the balance between entries and exits. Daily admissions are 177. Patients with symptoms in ordinary wards are 13,827, or 463 more than yesterday.
There are 14,103 new cases of people who tested positive for Covid-19 (of which 11,612 after antigen tests), equal to 19.6% of 72,103 swabs performed, of which 58,167 antigenic. Of the 14,103 new cases, 10,670 (75.7%) were asymptomatic. There are 12 deaths, two of which today. There are 136 hospitalized in intensive care (+14 compared to yesterday) those not in intensive care 1,513 (+53 compared to yesterday). New record of daily infections in Veneto, with 18,129 cases in 24 hours, bringing the total of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 721,879. The regional bulletin also reports 14 deaths, with the total number of victims rising to 12,487. Numbers on the rise also for the current positives, which are 151,214, 14,491 more than yesterday. On the other hand, there is a decrease in admissions both in the non-intensive area, which are 1,325 (-70), and in intensive care 202 (-9).
On the day of the Epiphany, South Tyrol records a new record of infections since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. With 1,590 new positivity out of 14,515 swabs examined yesterday, this is the new all-time record. Three people died yesterday for a total of 1,314 victims since the beginning of the emergency. Of the new positivity, 42% concern people between 20 and 39 years old. There is a slight decrease in Covid patients admitted to hospitals, which are 75 in normal wards (3 fewer than yesterday and 9 in two days) and 17 in intensive care (one fewer). There are 56 postacute Covid patients admitted to private facilities. Out of 278,073 people subjected to molecular swabs, 108,522 tested positive. The total healed are 99,311. The number of 8,953 people in quarantine or home isolation is back on the rise.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, 627,222 positive cases have been recorded in Emilia-Romagna, of which 18,413 more than yesterday, out of a total of 62,472 swabs performed in the last 24 hours. 140 patients are currently hospitalized in intensive care in Emilia-Romagna (-1 compared to yesterday); the average age is 62. Of the total, 109 (therefore 77.9%) are not vaccinated (zero doses of vaccine received, average age 60.4 years), while the remaining 31 are vaccinated with a full cycle (average age 67 years). As for the patients hospitalized in the other Covid departments, there are 1,744 (+122 compared to yesterday). In the data communicated today to the Ministry of Health, to the 18,413 new cases today, another 20,115 positive cases were added between 27 December 2021 and 3 January of this year. These are the data ascertained at 12 today relating to the trend of the epidemic in the region. As for the total number of people healed, they are 3,536 more than yesterday and reach 456,114. There are 24 deaths: two in the province of Parma (two women aged 90 and 97); two in the province of Reggio Emilia (two women aged 82 and 99); three in the province of Modena (a man aged 95 and two women aged 86 and 95), seven in the province of Bologna (three women aged 74, 81 and 98, and four men aged 67, 82, 83 and 86) , four in the province of Ravenna (four women aged 76, 81, 87 and 89), three in the province of Forlì-Cesena (a woman of 90 and two men of 73 and 91). Finally, the last three deaths concern the province of Rimini, three women aged 66, 72 and 73.
In Tuscany there are 463,023 cases of coronavirus positivity, 17,286 more than yesterday (6,247 confirmed with molecular swab and 11,039 by rapid antigen test). New cases are 3.9% more than the previous day’s total. The healed grew by 1.6% and reached 309,793 (66.9% of total cases). Today, 22,889 molecular swabs and 52,635 rapid antigenic swabs were performed, of which 22.9% were positive. On the other hand, 22,931 subjects were tested today (with antigenic and / or molecular swab, excluding the control swabs), of which 75.4% were positive. The currently positive are 145,614 today, + 9.4% compared to yesterday. The hospitalized are 1,001 (40 more than yesterday), of which 98 in intensive care (8 more). Today there are 18 new deaths: 8 men and 10 women with an average age of 85.5 years. These are the data – ascertained at 12 today on the basis of the requests of the National Civil Protection – relating to the progress of the epidemic in the region.
In the last 24 hours, 3,120 cases of Covid-19 were identified in the Marche compared to 14,873 swabs processed in the path for new diagnoses, with a positivity rate of 21% (yesterday it was 17.3% with 2,147 cases); over a third of the positives are in the 25-44 age group. In absolute terms, this is the new record of positives identified in a single day. The cumulative incidence per 100 thousand inhabitants increased again, passing from 697.87 to 784.86. There are 293 (-3) patients assisted in the hospital wards of the Marche and 43 (-12) in the emergency rooms waiting to be transferred to the wards. In intensive care there are 50 patients (-2) and the bed occupancy rate is 19.4%; 57 (like yesterday) patients in the semi-intensive areas and 186 (-1) hospitalized in non-intensive wards, with the occupancy of beds in the medical area at 24.2%. In the last 24 hours, another 4 victims related to Covid-19 have been recorded, all also suffering from previous pathologies. The toll since the start of the pandemic crisis is 3,274 dead. There are 4808 new Covid positive cases registered today in Abruzzo, bringing the total from the beginning of the emergency to 128900. Of today’s positives, 3670 have been identified through rapid antigen tests. The death toll of patients recorded a new case (it is an 86 year old from the province of L’Aquila) and rises to 2655. The number of positive cases also includes 88268 discharged / healed (+144 compared to yesterday). The currently positives in Abruzzo (calculated by subtracting the number of discharged / recovered and deceased from the total of positives) are 37977 (+4662 compared to yesterday). In the last 24 hours, 6519 molecular swabs were performed (1765945 in total since the start of the emergency) and 30896 antigen tests (1959264). The positivity rate, calculated on the sum of molecular swabs and antigen tests of the day, is equal to 12.85 percent. Of the total number of positive cases, 28942 are resident or domiciled in the province of L’Aquila (+781 compared to yesterday), 34487 in the province of Chieti (+1520), 31092 in the province of Pescara (+1021), 31663 in the province of Teramo ( +1184), 1539 outside the region (+135) and 1177 (+166) for which provenance checks are underway. Another peak of infections in Basilicata. There are 1,032 new cases of Sars Cov-2 (984 concern residents), out of a total of 2,927 molecular swabs, and there are 2 deaths from Covid-19. The deceased people resided in Senise and Lauria. There are 136 recovered or negated Lucanians. There are 72 (-2) hospitalized for Covid-19, of which 2 (-1) in intensive care: 38 (of which 1 in TI) in the Potenza hospital; 34 (of which 1 in IT) in that of Matera. Overall, the current positives residing in Basilicata are 8,151. Of the new cases 144 were registered in Matera and 115 in Potenza.
Infections continue to run in Sardinia, where in the last 24 hours a new record has been reached: 1,296 (+57) confirmed cases based on 3,976 people tested. There are also two further deaths: a 67-year-old woman residing in the province of Nuoro and an 89-year-old man from the province of Sassari. A total of 20,093 swabs were processed, including molecular and antigenic, for a positive rate of 6.4 per cent against 6.7 at the last detection. The patients admitted to the intensive care units are 22 (+3), those in the medical area 173 (-1). The number of people in home isolation rose, in all 12,164 (+1,039)
